How to answer Common Job Interview Questions
Unemployment in Uganda is a significant economic and social issue. According to the Uganda Bureau of Statistics, the unemployment rate in Uganda was at 6.1% in 2019. However, this figure is believed to be an underestimation as it only accounts for individuals actively seeking employment. The youth unemployment rate is particularly high, with many young Ugandans struggling to find decent work. Factors that contribute to unemployment in Uganda include a lack of formal employment opportunities, a mismatch between the skills of job seekers and the needs of employers, and a lack of access to finance for small and medium-sized enterprises. The government of Uganda has implemented various policies and programs to address unemployment, including job creation through the promotion of small and medium-sized enterprises, skills training, and infrastructure development.
